Last residence Revere, MA) at the head of the Melody Lounge stairs due to crowds, went instead up three steps to the 48-foot Caricature Bar. Miss Smith at the spring 1943 Grove manslaughter trials (quote): "I heard a commotion coming down from...the direction of the Melody Lounge. My chum and I got up and started toward the ladies' room. When we got to the steps I saw the fire" (Boston Evening American, 3/23/1943). Husband Pvt. Francis C. Judeikis, U.S. Army Air Corps, age 29 (Born 8/14/1913. Died 6/15/1987, Randolph, MA, age 73), based at Madison, WI, reached Boston by train next Tuesday. The Boston Globe, 12/05/1942: "Her name was Frances and his name was Francis, and they buried her Thursday, on St. Francis' Day." Described by her husband to reporters as, "...a very religious girl...always doing good to someone..." (The Boston Globe, 12/05/1942). Husband added: "Maybe we have to lose 500 relatives and friends before we decide to take fire laws out of the hands of politicians." Married on 7/05/1942, in Boston. Husband made news in 1950 when found guilty of enticing a married Mrs. Adele Pataskas, "...to leave her home and to move into an apartment in the same building..." (The Boston Herald, 3/23/1950). Mr. Judeikis was ordered by a Suffolk Superior Court jury to pay the spouse of Mrs. Pataskas $4,020 on the grounds of "alienation of affections," then married the former Mrs. Pataskas in 1951.
