(paint manufacturers), Boston. Known as "Ernie." Wife Marion M., age 40 (Born 1/04/1902. Died 6/18/1988, age 86. Last residence Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA), survived. Couple hosted a group observing the 22nd wedding anniversary of victims Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Margaret "Peg" Carroll, ages 51 and 48 respectively, of East Weymouth (Weymouth), MA, nine of 14 present died. All witnessed the big B.C./Holy Cross football game at Fenway Park, then afterwards attended an evening cocktail party held at the Quincy home of the Bizzozeros. Group reunited at the Grove, where the couple continued the role of hosts. Were seated at combined tables in the main dining room by the right-hand edge of the rolling dance floor. Was referred to when it was reported that a western Bay State work associate: "...was listening to a reading of the list of dead over the radio [and] was startled to hear the name of Bizzozero...an odd name and the radio announcer did not give it correctly..." (Springfield Union, Springfield, MA, 11/30/1942). Was one of 60 "probable identifications" listed Sunday morning (8:00 a.m.) at Southern Mortuary, Boston (all male). Wife arrived home to break the news of his tragic end to their 9-year-old son, also named Ernest (latter made news when saved by a patrolman after he broke through ice at Black's Creek, in Quincy, on 3/09/1943). Was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1924. "He was connected as a consultant with other firms and his business success had been brilliant" (Quincy Patriot Ledger, 11/30/1942). Was a lifelong Quincy resident. One of 20 names chosen by Commonwealth prosecuting attorneys as representative victims at the spring 1943 Grove manslaughter trials of club owner Barnett "Barney" Welansky, age 45 (not present at the blaze due to illness), his brother James, age 46, and wine steward Jacob "Jack" Goldfine, age 47 (latter two found innocent of all charges). Wife revealed in a 1967 news interview: "I was separated from my husband and knocked to the floor...I never saw my husband alive after that" (The Boston Herald, 11/28/1967). Widow remained lifetime friends with party survivor Francis "Frank" Duggan, age 46, of Quincy, who lost his wife Mary "Hilda," age 39, in the flames. Wife never remarried, but was reported "engaged" to Mr. Duggan at the time of the latter's death in April 1978, at age 81 (his and hers obituaries). Parents Mr. Ernest and the late Mrs. Giovanna (Bianchi) Bizzozero. Burial at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Widow was buried with her victim husband upon her June 1988 death. Middle name Bianchi.
