Age 43. 26 Rollinson Road, Worcester, MA. Born on 4/06/1899, Sura, Sweden. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Police sergeant, Worcester Police Department. Was present in a party of five with his wife Mary, age 42, also Mr. and Mrs. John and Lucia "Lucy" Moossa, ages 32 and 29 respectively, and Samuel Falcone, age 28, all of Worcester, all dead. Group had traveled to Boston to attend the season-ending afternoon football contest at Fenway Park between Jesuit school rivals Boston College and Holy Cross. One of 60 "probable identifications" listed Sunday morning (8:00 a.m.) at Southern Mortuary, Boston (all male). The body of his wife was carried to a temporary morgue at the scene, was not identified until Monday. To the U.S. in 1902. Married in 1933, in Worcester. Survived by a daughter Gloria, age 18. Latter not only served as the informant on the death certificates for both parents, but also had to locate and procure her parents' gravesites. Daughter was one of 43 minor offspring (then under age 21) who lost both parents in the catastrophe, 101 other known minors lost one parent each. The above group comprised five of the 19 victims taken from the city of Worcester and the home of the victorious College of the Holy Cross. Gathering included five of the 125 casualties (more than one in every four) known to witness the historic Fenway Park football game in Boston (likely others unreported). Parents Mr. and Mrs. August H. and Anna E. Johnson. Burial with his wife at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Couple were two of seven fatalities interred at the above Hope Cemetery (also Robert Biggar, age 24, Charles Hildreth, Jr., age 22, Boris Lolo, age 25, also Mr. and Mrs. David and Sophie Sundberg, ages 24 and 25, all patrons from Worcester). Middle name Alfred.
