With her husband Edward, age 47, attended the season-ending afternoon B.C./Holy Cross football duel at Fenway Park in a gathering of 14, then drove home to Brockton before rejoining the group at the club. Outing was hosted by Mr. Ernest Bizzozero, dead, and his wife Marion, survived, both age 40, of Quincy, MA. "An especially attractive young woman, she was popular and well liked by a large circle of friends" (Brockton Daily Enterprise, 11/30/1942). Also: "...Close friends...believe the choice of place must have been the suggestion of one of the others...for 'Ed' and Elleen had been known to say they never had cared for that particular night club." Her name was included on an early short "List of Known Dead," published in the 11/29/1942 Boston Sunday Globe, then corrected: "Eventually it was proven that the body was that of Mr. McCarthy rather than that of his wife..." (Brockton Daily Enterprise, 11/30/1942). Remains were located at Northern Mortuary, Boston. An older brother, George E. Noonan (not present), "...was able to only tentatively identify the body of his sister..." (The Boston Globe, 11/30/1942). A married older sister Mrs. Mary Mullins (not present) told the 11/30/1942 Boston Globe (quote): "Mrs. McCarthy had been ill and wasn't particularly keen about going to the party." Married on 2/24/1936, in Brockton. Survived by children Jane Frances, age 5, and Edward Joseph Justin, Jr., age 3 months. The offspring were two of 43 minors (then under age 21) who lost both parents in the catastrophe, 101 other known minor offspring lost one parent each. First name was misspelled "Eileen" in numerous news reports and on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (was shown correctly on her death certificate). Parents Mr. and Mrs. George T. and Mary A. (Young) Noonan. Burial with her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
