Age 26. 184 Greeley Street, Clinton, MA. Born 5/25/1916, Rockville (Vernon), CT. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Housewife (death certificate). In an all-Clinton party of six, four dead including her husband Robert, also age 26. Group was seated at a small table located on the main dining room raised rear terrace. "The six Clinton residents...engaged rooms at the Copley-Plaza Hotel, Boston, prior to their attendance at the Holy Cross-Boston College football game, at Fenway Park, Boston, Saturday afternoon" (Clinton Daily Item, 11/30/1942). "Relatives of the victims became aware of the tragedy...when they called the Boston hotel and were told the rooms taken by the six had not been occupied" (The Evening Gazette, Worcester, MA, 11/30/1942). Her remains were reported to be removed with those of her husband directly from within the ruins by firefighters. Appeared on early casualty lists under her maiden (also her mother's) name: "Lisk, E.V., address unknown (name on watch on body)." Was raised in Rockville, CT. Married in 1940. Was previously a press operator, United States Envelope Co., of West Hartford, CT (1940 federal census). With others in her party were the lone Grove victims from the blue-collar Worcester County town of Clinton. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin and Emma V. (Otto) Lisk. Burial with her husband on the following Thursday at Saint Bernard Cemetery, Rockville, CT. "Her body was dressed in her bridal gown" (Hartford Courant, Hartford, CT, 12/04/1942). Couple were two of five Grove casualties (of 490 total) interred in Connecticut soil (also Nutmeg State patrons Miss Ruth Reid, age 28, Mrs. Margaret Sullivan, age 56, and the adult son of the latter, Raymond Sullivan, age 34). Middle name Vera.
