Owner and president, Loman Electric Supply Co., 603 Atlantic Avenue, Boston. Was at the club with his niece Miss Anne "Anna" Kaplinsky, age 31, visiting from Holyoke, MA, dead. His automobile was located early Sunday morning parked on nearby Stuart Street. Remains were identified by a brother at Northern Mortuary from a wallet and clothing. The Boston Globe, 11/30/1942: "Mr. Loman is well known in electrical circles, having been in the electrical supply business many years." Name as displayed on his death certificate: "Edward (known as Israel) Loman." Was a widower, late wife former Rose "Ruth" Ross, married in 1927, in Rochester, NY. Wife died by Phenobarbital poisoning suicide on 9/25/1941. Survived by a daughter Frances, age 10 (Born 3/22/1932. Died as Frances R. Doucette 11/10/2011, age 79). His death left his daughter an orphan. Star-crossed daughter (later married) made more unfortunate fire-related news in August 1964: "A row of brick apartments at 37-39-41 Williams st., Chelsea, were evacuated by 10 occupants at 3 a.m. Saturday...Mrs. Frances Doucette, 32, led her four children to safety from the fire..." (The Boston Sunday Globe, 8/02/1964). Slight physique (WWII draft registration, February '42: 5' 5½," 145 lbs.). Was the eldest of 18 Grove victims from the town of Brookline (also Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Beatrice Ansin, ages 39 and 37, Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Rhea Baron, both age 35, Miss Marion Chalmers, age 30, Mrs. Adele Dreyfus, age 22, Miss Edna Fine, age 20, Mrs. Jeanne Frutman, age 37, Eugene Gross, age 41, Miss Ruth Karmelin, age 22, Mrs. Dorothy Levin, age 24, Myer Marks, age 39, Miss Kathleen O'Neil, age 17, Rodric Prendergast, age 18, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore and Adelaide "Addie" Wasserman, ages 39 and 32, and Miss Priscilla White, age 27, all patrons), the largest casualty count from any single Bay State town (non-city). Late parents Mr. and Mrs. Abraham L. and Ida (Erlowitz) Loman. Burial with his late wife at Grove Street (Pride of Jacob) Cemetery, West Roxbury (Boston), MA. One of ten fire casualties interred at the above Grove Street collective Jewish resting grounds.
