Age 30. 17 Washington Street, Malden, MA. Born 1/08/1912, in Malden. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Stenographer for Atlantic Corp. (seafood), Commonwealth Pier, Boston. Attending a farewell party for her escort Joseph Alario, age 34, of Roxbury (Boston), MA, dead, latter to enter the U.S. Navy the next week. Pair witnessed the season-ending B.C./Holy Cross football game at Fenway Park in an unnamed group of six, reported all dead. Body was located by her mother late Sunday at Southern Mortuary in Boston through a platinum wrist watch, a diamond ring gifted by her father, and part of a dress. "Miss Cameron was not so badly burned as some of the others, and could have been identified, according to relatives" (Malden Evening News, 11/30/1942). Was a graduate of Malden High School and a Boston business college. Was single. One of three victims from the nearby city of Malden (also patron Miss Elizabeth Kirwan, age 20, and Grove cashier Miss Katherine "Kate" Swett, age 67). With Mr. Alario were two of 464 club guests killed in addition to 24 non-patrons (including 17 employees, 6 visiting entertainers, one War Bonds salesgirl, also two outside passing rescuers, Harold Hawkins, age 46, and Stanley Viator, age 25), a total of 490 dead. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Hugh A. and Vera H. (Rooney) Cameron, same address. Father, a Boston Post pressman unaware his daughter was attending the club, "...worked through the night on the presses which ran off the stories of the mass tragedy" (The Boston Post, 12/01/1942). Burial at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. In memoriam poem published two years later in The Boston Globe, 11/28/1944: "You are not forgotten loved one / Nor will you ever be / Beautiful memories of you, dear, / Will always be with me. Mother." Middle name Mae.
