Age 28. 153 Elm Street, Everett, MA. Born 2/25/1914, in Everett. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Secretary, U.S. Army Ordnance Department, Springfield Arsenal, Springfield, MA. Was also known by her middle name "Ruby." Lodged at the Springfield YMCA since January 1941. To the Grove with former arsenal coworker Miss Mary Ferguson (escaped, later whereabouts unknown) and three other (unnamed) girls, one reported dead, two survived. Group was about to leave because there were no accommodations. Springfield Daily News, 11/30/1942: "Attempts were being made today [Monday] to identify Miss Haggett...through a watch which she recently had repaired in this city." Remains were identified by her father on Monday afternoon at Southern Mortuary, Boston, through a wrist watch and a ring. Had arrived several days earlier from the western Bay State city of Springfield to Everett to celebrate a belated Thanksgiving with her parents. "The entire family had to work on Thanksgiving, so the observance was postponed to Sunday, never to be held" (Malden Evening News, Malden, MA, 12/02/1942). Was a graduate of Everett High School in 1929. Was single. Surname was misspelled "Haggott" (with an "o" on the second syllable) on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (correct surname spelling on her death certificate). One of five victims from the nearby city of Everett (also Miss Patricia Ann "Patsy" Carey, age 22, John Collins, age 22, Miss Roberta Jennie Russell, age 29, and club bass violinist Bernardo Fazioli, age 45). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Ruby L. (Nelson) Haggett, same Everett address. Burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.
