
Age 19. 83 Shirley Avenue, Revere, MA. Born on 11/28/1923, in Revere. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Storekeeper at the Watertown Arsenal, Watertown, MA. Attended the club with her best friend Miss Pauline Hyman, age 18, of Revere, also died. "It was her birthday and she and Miss Hyman had been planning the little celebration for a couple of weeks" (Revere Journal, 12/03/1942). A photograph with Miss Hyman made less than a week prior was posthumously published on the front page of the 12/03/1942 Revere Journal (image detail shown here). Was single. Was raised in Revere. Was a graduate of Revere High School in 1941. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Bella (Cohen) Rosenbaum, same address. Mother (as "Mrs. H. R., of Revere") wrote bitterly to the Boston Traveler, 12/18/1942: "My daughter had her identification in her wallet, social security card, pictures of herself and girl and boy friends, and money which she received as gifts...Who had the time to extract her wallet from her purse and leave all her other belongings intact? It was some scavenger who was worse than the devil himself." Added: "She could have easily been identified, instead of all the family running from morgue to morgue, hospital to hospital." With Miss Hyman were two of seven Grove victims from the north shore city of Revere (also Miss Josephine Camusi, age 30, Robert Freede, age 51, Max Gorvine, age 44, club bartender Paul Mikalonis "Mitchell," age 27, and Jacob Schwartz, age 32). Was the youngest of four fire victims to perish on their own birthdays (also Miss Margaret McDonagh, age 21, Mrs. Josephine Powell, age 29, and Lieut. Kenneth Simpson, U.S.N.R., age 31). Burial at Mount Lebanon (Beth El) Cemetery, West Roxbury (Boston), MA.
