Dr. O'Connor (Born 3/19/1896. Died 4/11/1980, age 84. Last residence New Bedford) was the lone party survivor. The group was chauffeured up from the south coast region by Dr. O'Connor to attend the afternoon B.C. Eagles / Holy Cross Crusaders collegiate football contest at Fenway Park. Had dinner in the main dining room at "a ringside seat, opposite the orchestra" (Dr. Connor to Boston Police, 11/29/1942). Foursome was gathered in the lobby preparing to leave when Miss O'Neil stopped to visit the ladies room. Her body was identified with that of her husband's sister Sunday evening at Boston City Hospital. Was a graduate of Fitchburg Normal School, Fitchburg, MA. Married in 1925, in New Bedford. Was survived by children Andrew, age 16, Joyce, age 15, and Joanne, age 10. Grandsons Christopher and Mark O'Neil in 2012 established "The Thomas H. and Catherine D. O'Neil Charitable Foundation," named in honor of their victim grandparents, to offer assistance to burns patients and their families. With her husband were the lone Grove victims from the "Whaling City" of New Bedford. Surname (with her husband) was misspelled "O'Neill" (with two "l"s) on the official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (surname was spelled correctly on her death certificate, but her middle initial was shown as "N."). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew P. (a late state senator) and Catherine (Massan) Doyle. Burial with her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. Middle name Doyle (also shown in some sources as "Mary").
